Earlier this month I joked on a FB site that Tom Brady was going to run for 100 yards this season. Not in a game, but in the whole season. Over 17 games. An average of 6 yards per game. The site went wild. There was haranguing, guffaws, assaults on my sanity. I was called everything from A to Z. none of it was good. You would have thought I was suggesting the impossible, the incredible, the unimaginable. A mere 6 yards a game. I was called the naysayer of doom. I was jinxing not only the team but the season. That 6 yards a game would put Brady in mortal danger.
So I get up this morning and what do I see?. Mr. Tom Brady was racing down the practice field like a gazelle buck and beating a kid less than half age in sprints. Brady was showing the determination and moxie that is his trademark. He was blowing the kid away by yards. Could it be that Arians is throwing in the QB option this year? Ala Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Raven. Could it be that Brady is looking to extend the pocket for time? Ala Aaron Rodger and Russel Wilson. Just think. This could be a whole new chapter in the football career of Tom Brady.
OK. So the kid was only 13 years old. But thirteen-year-olds can be sneaky fast you know. So don’t sleep on that. OK. So the kid was also his son. Jack Brady. One of the current ballboys for the Bucs. So maybe Jack lost on purpose. Just to make his dad look good. As children are wont to do. Just maybe. But you must admit. Tom looked pretty darn fast. You never know what he might do this season.
