Last Thursday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers snatched the souls out of the Dallas Cowboys with a 31-29 win. A last-minute drive led by Tom Brady resulted in the winning field goal with only 7 seconds left on the clock. But what happened on Sunday. Let us delved into the madness starting In the Bucs division.
The Brees-less Saints bodyslammed the Green Bay Packers 38-3. Former Buccaneer, Jameis Winston, outplayed the doubting, pouting Aaron Rodgers. Not only did Winston eat a W. He also threw for 5 touchdowns on the day. More than he ever did in a game for the Bucs. The Bucs and Saints matchup for the 1st of their two games on October 31st. That game will be electric.
The Atlanta Falcons were pancaked by the Philadelphia Eagles 32-6. Atlanta was slated to be bad and they are living up to that prediction. Expect more of the same in the future
The Carolina Panthers, led by Teddy Bridgewater, squeezed by the perenially pathetic New York Jets 19-14. You can change coaches and players on the Jets. But the results are always the same. A loss. Carolina didn’t do much. But teams don’t have to do much when they play the Jets. Just be on the same field at the time when they self-destruct.
Notable mentions: Tom Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots, lost yet again. They were beaten by the Miami Dolphins 17-16. Losing has become the usual instead of the rare since the departure of Brady. They were 7-9 last season with Cam Newton. Expect more of the same with Mac Jones. The game was close only because Miami’s 1st-round, 2nd year, QB, Tua Tagovailoa, still looks like a deer in the headlights. Tags looks like a bad pick that is going to get worse.
The Kansas City Chiefs came from behind to suplex the Cleveland Browns. 33-29. The Browns had their chance. They were ahead 22-10 at halftime. But showed they ain’t ready for primetime playing yet and were outscored. 23-7 in the 2nd half.
The Pittsburgh Steelers played their usual mindless football. But it was enough to beat the Buffalo Bills 23-16. Buffalo came out of nowhere to win the AFC East last year. This year it looks like teams have figured out Josh Allen can only scramble to his right. Allen, on the other hand, has not figured out that they have figured him out. So he was getting sacked with regularity.
Not so notables: The San Francisco 49ers dropkicked the Detroit Lions 41-33. But then again every team in the NFL puts it to the Lions. Jeff Goff won’t last long the way he got hammered. Come back home, Bobby Lane.
The Cincinnati Bengals did a double-legged takedown to beat the Minnesota Vikings 27-24. But it won’t matter to either team. Neither will be in contention for a playoff spot.
The Arizona Cardinals gave the Peoples elbow to the Tennessee Titans 38-13. Chandler Jones of Arizona ate up the offensive line of the Titans. Recording 5 sacks.
The Denver Bronco’s face clawed the New York Football Giants into submission.27-13
The Seattle Seahawks RKO’d the Indy Colts
The Houston Texans bulldozed the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-21
The Los Angeles Chargers f-5ed the Washington Football team. 20-16 and THAT is your Monday Morning Wrap-up
