Domination. All the great sports dynasties have done it. Today, we were lucky enough as Buccaneer fans to witness firsthand, as the team from Tampa Bay absolutely destroyed their state neighbors. I can’t even put my finger on what was better, the Buccaneers’ offense or defense. Both sides played tremendously, and we will see what they accomplished shortly.
We all recall the sheer debauchery that occurred during the 2017 Super Bowl, when Tom Brady, who was playing for the New England Patriots at the time, set the stage for an absolutely fairy-tale comeback against the Atlanta Falcons. From 25 points down he led the way and delivered an overtime Super Bowl win, the first in NFL history.
Well, Tom Brady is still leading his teams to victory against the Falcons, only this time he has swapped the Red and Blue of New England for the Red and Orange of “Champa Bay”. I read a YouTube video titled “Father Time Losing His Battle with Tom Brady” and I couldn’t agree more. It is just ridiculous what this man is still accomplishing.
Last night the man had 276 passing yards to go along with, get this, five touchdowns! Yes, FIVE! Seriously, most QB’s are either lounging at home or working for the CBS panels. This man is still throwing dimes like it’s nothing. That just goes to show that when you truly love something, and you are in harmony with it, you can do it for as long as you want.
Did I mention that the defense was absolutely outstanding in this game? Although Matt Ryan held his own and was extremely competitive, the Bucs D was just suffocating him, leading him to either throw the ball away or force throws.
So many defensive names were electric, but let’s start with Carlton Davis. I mean, the man had 8 tackles, I think he deserves to be shown some love. Or how about Lavonte David who had 5 clutch tackles as well, and who looked laser-focused all game long.
Lastly, we can’t forget Mike Edwards, who had not one, but two pick-6s. That set the tone for the Buccaneers and guided them to dominate the game. It was the first time in his career that he registered an INT and boy oh boy what a way to do it.
I want to show some appreciation to our opponent, the Atlanta Falcons as well, who even though are rebuilding, came out and played a hell of a game. They stayed competitive all the way through and really showed some fighting spirit.
The Bucs next game comes on Sunday against Mattew Stafford and the L.A Rams. Both QB’s have arms so it will surely be an exciting gun-slinging touchdown fight. May the best man win!
