NBA Free-Agency to Lead Way to New Superteams

With NBA free-agency less than 24 hours away, we are already feeling ripples of what is to come. If you happen to be an NBA fan, this is an exciting time, so buckle up and get ready for a changing NBA landscape this off-season.

First off we have tremendous news coming out of L.A, but surprisingly, it doesn’t involve the Lakers. The Clippers seem to be forming what some would call a superteam, as former superstar John Wall is reportedly planning on signing with the Clips, immediately after he clears waivers. This is a huge move for the California team who haven’t enjoyed much playoff success since their inception in the 80s.

I think this move will make the Clippers legitimate title contenders, as this year they couldn’t even crack the playoffs at all. Wall will be used as a “stress relief” of sorts, handling the ball and taking shots for both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard to lessen their offensive load. If they can figure out how to equally share the ball out there this team will be dangerous.

Across the ways, in Atlanta, we have the Hawks making a huge move acquiring Dejounte Murray, one of the best and brightest young stars the NBA has at the moment. It still amazes me that the Spurs decided to trade Murray, especially considering he has tremendous potential and a super high ceiling.

Trae Young will get help from Murray

Murray gives the Hawks an amazing backcourt now, as he will be paired up with “Ice” Trae Young. Young and Murray will be leading the Hawks’ offense each night, rendering this team one of the most exciting in the NBA. I can’t wait for them to take on the Knicks at MSG.

In other news, let’s look at the deals that haven’t happened yet, and that we’re all looking forward to. Players that have opted into free agency include James Harden, Bradley Beal, and DeAndre Ayton, all players who have the ability to severely alter a franchise’s success with their signing.

Could Harden’s selfless move of taking a pay cut lead way to the Sixers adding another talented forward to the roster? Could Bradley Beal head to the mecca of basketball, New York City, and turn the Knicks into a contender? Could Ayton sign in Detroit and end years of agony for that Michigan fanbase? All valid questions, all with exciting outcomes.

Free agency is the most wonderful time of the year if you are an NBA fan, and this off-season is looking to be one of the greatest in recent memory. With a changing NBA landscape on the horizon, we may just see a new superteam emerge from the rubble and into the hearts of their fans.
