Brazil secured a confidence-boosting 3-2 victory over Mexico in a pre-Copa America friendly in Texas on Saturday. Coach Dorival Junior, who took over in January, rested key players like Vinicius Jr, Endrick, Rodrygo, and Raphinha.
Nevertheless, Brazil’s alternative lineup proved effective. Andreas Pereira opened the scoring in the 5th minute, converting a pass from Savio. Brazil extended their lead nine minutes into the second half when Eder Militao’s long throw-in was flicked on by Yan Couto, allowing Gabriel Martinelli to finish easily.
Mexico responded in the 73rd minute with Julian Quinones converting a cross from Alexis Vega. Guillermo Martinez Ayala then equalized for Mexico in the 92nd minute, setting up a dramatic finale. However, Brazilian prodigy Endrick clinched the win for Brazil just four minutes later, ensuring a morale-boosting result ahead of the Copa America.
Brazil faces the U.S. in another warm-up friendly on Wednesday before opening their Copa America campaign against Costa Rica on June 24.
