Bucs Escape with Win in Philadelphia

On Thursday night the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles and what a game it was. Tom Brady looked locked in as ever, Leonard Fournette delivered a running performance that was a breath of fresh air, and Antonio Brown keeps on proving to everybody that he is still one of the premier receivers in this league.

For what it’s worth, Eagles fans, your team did claw back and make it interesting, but alas, Tom Brady and his skilled clockwork got the better of them. Before I get into my praise of the Buccaneers, I must say that Jalen Hurts is often carrying this team on his back. I don’t know how many games I’ve seen where he tries making a comeback on his own by using his run-game.

Hurts can’t win without a good supporting cast

The Eagle’s defense didn’t help Hurts out either, as they were often playing zone coverages when they should have been playing man coverage. This allowed Tom Brady enough time to easily scope out his open receivers and hit them with beautifully placed spirals. It also led to the Bucs just running rampant through the Eagle’s defense, as even Leonard Fournette got in on the fun and scored not one, but two touchdowns!

Although Hurts did have more total touchdowns than the GOAT in this game, it was still so easy to see who had the better game. Brady is just synonymous with the game of football. If you search up NFL in a dictionary a picture of Tom Brady will most likely come up. In the case of who is catching Brady’s passes, then you will probably get a picture of Antonio Brown.

Brown was electric last night, attaining nine receptions and heading to the house for another touchdown. In one of my pre-season predictions articles, I stated that Brown would be having a “comeback” season of sorts this year and he is fully displaying that, to my pleasure.

Brown was electric last night

Another key performance from last night came from Leonard Fournette, who seems to have built off the momentum of the last game and transferred that momentum into this contest with the Eagles. It was the second straight contest in which Fournette looked like his old self. I have been preaching over the past few weeks that the Bucs run game needed a sprucing up, so I am glad to see that it is finally living up to its potential.

All in all, it was a super entertaining contest between two teams who fought hard, but ultimately, the better team won, and that was none other than our Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Next week the Buccaneers face the reeling Chicago Bears who have a surprising 3-2 record. We should be in for quite an entertaining match!
