On Tuesday afternoon the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trimmed their 76 man roster all the way down to the NFL mandated 53. After releasing some veterans and rookies who just couldn’t seem to crack the roster, the former champs now field their full team as they look for a repeat.
The more I cover this team the more excited I get about a possible back-to-back championship. I was especially hyped after witnessing Tom Brady dismantle the Texans last week in their final pre-season game. As I mentioned in my most recent article, it seemed as if Brady hadn’t lost a step, and it was as if he was still a spry 25-year-old heaving perfect passes to his receivers.
And how can we forget Chris Godwin, and for that matter, the entire Bucs receiving corps, which dazzled in their final pre-season game on Sunday. Everyone looked sharp as ever and many looked to already be in mid-season form. Antonio Brown caught my eye quite a few times, as he had been amply targeted by Brady, and repaid his confidence in him with beautiful grabs.
We can’t forget about the defense either, which looked every bit as good as the offense did. Their edge rushers were sharp, the blocking was superb, which all translated into a beautiful symphony of American Football.
This team has finally taken its final shape and with names such as Brady, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, Evans, Lavonte David, Devin White, Leonard Fournette, Jason Pierre-Paul, Shaq Barrett, and many others, this team looks primed for a repeat.
It is a truly beautiful thing to have a team filled with such superstars leading the way for the city of Tampa Bay. What’s even greater is the amount of chemistry this team has within all those superstars. There’s an old saying that goes, “the restaurant can’t work with too many chefs in the kitchen”. It seems that the Buccaneers have put an end to that myth.
They have chefs all across the kitchen. In fact, the kitchen is filled to the brim with superstar chefs (who have superstar egos). The only difference is that each chef (player) has bought in, and wants to win. That’s what makes this work and that is what keeps this Buccaneer’s ship sailing smooth waters.
Here’s to another championship!
