Fournette Explodes to Carry Bucs to 38-31 Win

For weeks I’ve been harping about how the Buccaneers need to figure out their run game. On November 28th Leonard Fournette finally shut me up. The New Orleans native exploded for a total of four touchdowns on Sunday, three of which were rushing touchdowns. He singlehandedly carried the Bucs running game with 100 yards on 17 total carries against the Colts.

This is another stunning performance by Fournette this season, one in which his consistency has been questioned. All doubts aside, Fournette has put up some pretty impressive performances this season and should be given more opportunities by the Buccaneers to shine. Although they are a pass-heavy offense, the Bucs can really be a dual-threat if they incorporate more running into their game plan.

All the same, it was a convincing win by the Buccaneers on Sunday, in a game that truly tested their tactical game plan. There were many instances during the game in which I was severely impressed by the choices made by the offensive coaches. This is ultimately what led to the Buccaneer’s decisive victory over the streaking Colts.

All eyes were on Jonathan Taylor before this game’s kickoff. The running back exploded for five touchdowns last week, against the might Buffalo Bills. Many pundits were wondering whether the 22-year-old had it in him to pull off another miracle, this time against the Bucs. Alas, Taylor would only end up scoring one touchdown, to go along with 83 rushing yards. He truly was bested by his fellow running back Leonard Fournette in this game.

On the receiving end of the ball, Rob Gronkowski delivered a high-end performance, one that reminded fans that he is still one of the very best to do it. On just seven receptions “Gronk” was able to put up 132 receiving yards. This proved that he was still capable of being used as a deep-threat, as opposed to a red-zone target.

Tom Brady, well, had another typical Tom Brady performance. The 44-year-old was outstanding, throwing for 226 yards and going 25-34. He threw one touchdown but also threw another interception; a trend that is minor trouble in the larger scheme of things. Anyone who has something to say about Tom Brady throwing interceptions should take a look at their respective team’s quarterback and stay quiet; just saying!

All in all, it was a great game by the Buccaneers, one I actually enjoyed watching. Their next game comes against the lowly Atlanta Falcons. The 5-6 Falcons will look to build on their momentum coming from their 21-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday.
