Suryakumar Yadav’s scintillating knock of 83 off 44 balls led India to a thrilling seven-wicket victory
against West Indies in the third T20 international in Guyana on Tuesday. Chasing 160, India stumbled as
T20 debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill fell early. Yet, Suryakumar’s exceptional display,
marked by 10 fours and four sixes, turned the tide. His explosive innings concluded when he sent an
Alzarri Joseph full toss to deep backward square leg. Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 49 and captain Hardik
Pandya’s six sealed victory with 13 balls left.
West Indies’ Rovman Powell’s unbeaten 40 guided them to 159-5 after choosing to bat. Brandon King
added a run-a-ball 42, while Mayers and Pooran contributed.
Kuldeep Yadav’s left-arm wrist spin was crucial, claiming 3-28. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar took a
wicket each.
The win narrowed West Indies’ lead to 2-1 in the five-match series, after a four-run loss and a dramatic
two-wicket defeat. Captain Pandya praised the team’s character. West Indies aims to secure their first
series win over India since 2016 but faces a resurgent Indian side.
