The much anticipated, highly ballyhooed game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots turned out to be a dud on every level. The Bucs won 19-17 in a game where Tom Brady couldn’t hit the side of a barn. When TB12 was able to put the ball where the receiver could catch it. They dropped it. Brady had the jitters playing his old team for the 1st time. It was to be expected. But it made for a boring game. In a bad weather game, the Buc’s defense came up big. They were the heroes of the game and bailed Brady out.
In the division:
The New Orleans Saints lost to the New York Football Giants. The Saints took the ball out of Winston’s hands. He only had 23 passing attempts. They ran the ball well but in the end. A loss is a loss. They are now 2-2
The Atlanta Falcons did what the Atlanta falcons usually do. Lose. The WFT came from behind and slapped the Falcons down. 34-30. Matt Ryan had 4 TD.s
The Carolina Panthers were defeated by the red-hot Dallas Cowboys. Carolina drops to 3-1 and is tied with the Bucs for the division lead.
Upsets:
The New York jets won the 1st game of the season. They defeated the Tennessee Titans 27-24 in OT. The Titans did not come into the game mentally prepared and it showed with the loss. The Jets will take a win any way they can because there will not be many more.
The Arizona Cardinals put it to the L.A. Rams 37-20. Yes. The very same Rams that shellacked our Tampa Bay Bucs last week. This is actually a common occurrence. When a team is pumped sky high to play the champs. They can’t maintain that same intensity the next week.
Not Upset at all:
The Buffalo Bills are on a rampage. They beat up on the Houston Texans 40-0 and NO. The game was never competitive. . Buffalo is laying was to the league and enjoying it.
Kansas City backhanded the Philly eagles 42-30 in Philadelphia. This game was closer than the score. KC’s defense is stumbling and is getting worse. Mahomes is will have to work magic all season long for the Chiefs to have a chance. Good luck with that.
The Seattle Seahawks rebounded from last week’s mediocrity to defeat the 49ers in San Francisco 28-21. Jimmy Garoppolo was hurt again in this one. This is the reason Trey Lance was drafted. Russell Wilson only passed for 155 yards but had 2 TDs.
The Cleveland Browns defeated the Vikings in Minnesota 14-7. This game was as boring as the Tampa Bay New England game. But there were no bad weather conditions to attribute it to. Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Baltimore are now tied for the top spot in that division at 3-1.
The Ravens slapped up on the Denver Broncos 23-7
The Green Bay Packers eased by the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17
On Thursday night the Cincinnati Bengals beat the winless Jacksonville jaguars 24-21
Speaking of winless. The Detroit Lions stayed in that column. Losing to the Chicago Bears 24-14.
Last but not least. The Indianapolis Colts fish hooked the Miami Dolphins for a 27-17 win.
Later Tonight the Las Vegas Raiders take on the Los Angeles Chargers in L.A.
