NBA Teams If Celebrities Replace Players (Eastern Conference)

A couple of days ago I had written an article that outlined what NBA teams would look like had they rostered their celebrity fans instead of actual players. To my chagrin, I got a comment on the article saying it was great (thank you again J Mezz:). So, I figured why not do another one, this time highlighting what the teams would look like if they did this in the Eastern Conference.

In my humble opinion, the Eastern conference celebrity teams are much stronger than those in the Western Conference, but I’ll let you all decide that for yourselves. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in and see what a group of celebrity teams would look like in the Eastern Conference of the NBA.

Miami Heat

Coach: Jimmy Buffett

DJ Khaled had to let us know; We the Best!

C: Dwayne Johnson / PF: Rick Ross / SF: Flo Rida / SG: DJ Khaled / PG: PitBull

The Miami Heat are one of the most successful franchises of all time in the NBA, especially in the past 20 years. It figures that their celebrity fans have enjoyed just as much success as the actual team has in recent years. 5 out of the 6 in this lineup are super successful musicians, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the highest-grossing actors of all time. Not too shabby of a lineup.

Brooklyn Nets

Coach: Gayle King

Jay-Z’s been repping Brooklyn

C: Jay-Z / PF: Bill Clinton / SF: Ethan Hawke / SG: Mary J. Blige / PG: Joey Badass

Where do I begin with this team? The second most popular team in New York may have the most passionate fanbase out of the two. Maybe it’s the underdog mentality of always coming up short in popularity to the knicks that has Nets fans repping their team harder than any other fans? Maybe it’s the Brooklyn attitude? I don’t know for certain, but what I do know is that these celebrities would die for their team.

New York Knicks

Coach: Spike Lee

No one reps the Knicks harder than Sike Lee

C: Howard Stern/ PF: 50 Cent / SF: Olivia Wilde / SG: Katie Holmes / PG: Alicia Keys

Spike Lee is arguably the greatest superfan to attend an NBA game. When he passes, a little part of the Knicks will pass as well. Lee will be leading the leading ladies of film and music in this team, as some of the biggest Knicks fans are the ultra-successful ladies of the entertainment business. It also doesn’t hurt to have an extremely tall center such as Howard Stern under the boards collecting the rebounds.

Toronto Raptors

Coach: Elisabeth Moss

Drake isn’t just a fan, he’s a Global Ambassador

C: Samuel L. Jackson/ PF: Drake / SF: Shawn Mendes / SG: Lily Singh / PG: Justin Bieber

This celebrity team would probably get annihilated by the other celebrity teams, and probably end up apologizing for it after the game. Sure they have Drake, who has been known to ball, as well as Justin Bieber, but let’s be honest; compared to the other teams in the league, this one doesn’t stand a chance.

Philadelphia 76ers

Coach: Questlove

Kevin Hart is a celebrity game MVP

C: Will Smith / PF: Michael B. Jordan / SF: Meek Mill / SG; Lil Dicky / PG: Kevin Hart

This team houses a multiple Celebrity All-Star Game MVP Award winner on it in Kevin Hart, so you know they will be in contention. It also doesn’t hurt that they have some of the most athletic celebrities in Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan on the team. They also have the honor of having the best pre-game pump-up music to listen to, as Meek Mill has some of the best warm-up songs to get your blood going.

Boston Celtics

Coach: Maria Menounos

Wahlberg is a die-hard Celtics fan

C: John Krasinski / PF: Ben Affleck / SF: Chris Evans / SG: Matt Damon / PG: Mark Wahlberg

The Boston Celtics celebrity team is one of the best celebrity teams I have seen. Can you imagine this team going up against the Lakers celebrity team in the Finals of the Celebrity Championship? I can! It also helps that they have one of the most beautiful women in the world as their coach, as opposing players can become distracted, leading to some easy steals and baskets for Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
