NFL QBs in Limbo; and Where They May End Up

NFL free agency has given fans some exciting news to discuss while the NFL offseason is in full swing. From bid-dollar signings to players being unloyal at the last minute, fans have gotten their fair share of football entertainment this past week. What I find most interesting is not who HAS been signed, but rather who HASN’T been signed.

Names such as Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield (he’s signed but his career is in limbo), and Jameis Winston. Another name seemingly no one has been talking about is Jimmy Garapollo, which baffles me. With that in mind, we will take a look at the state of where they are currently at, and where their most likely landing spot seems to be. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

Deshaun Watson

The big fish in free agency, Watson is garnering interest from a whole slew of teams, most notably the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints. Fans weren’t sure if Watson would ever play again, as there were upwards of 20 sexual assault cases against him this past year and a half. After a settlement that Watson will not be charged, it seems teams are able to look past it and able to sign Watson.

Deshaun Watson is back to playing in the NFL

With his playing style, I could really see Watson playing with the Saints. The Saints have wide-receivers for Watson to work with. His pass-heavy game would flourish in New Orleans, and I could really see them making a deep playoff run if he signs there. The other teams, such as the Panthers, Falcons, and Browns could also be good fits, but ultimately, his playing style fits best with the Saints.

Baker Mayfield

It seems that the Browns management has the same amount of bedside manner as a caffeinated doctor who hasn’t slept in 36 hours. After being the go-to guy in Cleveland the past couple of years, it seems the Browns has no regard for their starting QB, and let it be known by openly talking with Watson about coming to Cleveland.

It’s safe to say the Baker-Cleveland marriage is over

I can’t blame Baker for feeling like the odd-man-out. After giving his all to the franchise, they’ve kind of just turned their back on him and pushed him to the side. Oh well, that’s just the business of football. For Baker, I’d really like to see him in Carolina with Christian McCaffrey (if he stays). I feel like they could be a great duo, and if they get some more receiving help, it would help Mayfield cement himself as a starting QB.

Jameis Winston

So, with Watson on the verge of signing with New Orleans, where does that leave underrated QB, Jameis Winston? Well, I really do think that Winston signing with the New York Giants would be a marriage made in football heaven. Winston has the swagger to handle the New York media and the expectations that come with it, and it seems like the chaotic events that could unfold with this signing would be too good to miss. Oh yeah, and it also helps that he’s a super talented QB who could take over the starting job and hopefully guide New York to some wins.

Jimmy G

Where do I begin with Jimmy G? It seems wherever he goes, he wins. In saying that, injuries have been a cause for concern with the veteran QB, but his play in the postseason had fans and NFL execs turning their heads. Jimmy G can still play at the highest level, and he is definitely a top-15 QB in the NFL.

Jimmy G looking to make another team a title contender

Is he flashy? No. Is he going to put up crazy numbers? No, but he is a great game manager who is able to scrape out wins, and even lead your team to the playoffs and NFL Finals. I think we tend to forget that he is only a couple of years removed from playing in the NFL Finals. Wherever he goes, I know he’ll win!
