NFL Rumors; Quarterbacks Could Move Like Half Price Turkeys

With Tom Brady retiring a couple of days, the game of American Football lost the greatest player to ever grace a field with the NFL logo on it. The league weren’t the only losers, as the Buccaneers, Brady’s former team, are now without a quarterback; a very good one a that. The Buccaneers don’t really have a plethora of options to choose from, as Blaine Gabbert is heading to free agency and Kyle Trask hasn’t seen a decent amount of NFL action. So what do the Bucs do? Get a new quarterback via free agency or trade.

Now there is a list of untouchables that will certainly not be moved by their teams, no matter what is being offered (Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott). Aside from those names, nearly everyone else is a possible candidate to be moved by their team. Recently reports have come out that Russel Wilson wouldn’t mind going to New York, Tannehill might be on the move due to his inability to come up in the clutch, Jimmy G’s fate in San Francisco has already been decided; different pieces of proof to show you that no one’s job is safe. So, who goes, and more importantly where?

If this was up to me, these quarterbacks would go these teams. One, since I am a Giants fan, and haven’t seen a real quarterback lead this team since Eli Manning was in his prime, our first priority should be to get a solid quarterback to man the helm. No knock on Daniel Jones, I think he is a superb athlete, but it just hasn’t worked in New York. I’m sure with another organization he can do very well, but it’s just not the right fit in the Big Apple. For any Giants fan, the ultimate dream would be to trade for Russel Wilson.

Wilson is a one-of-a-kind pocket passer, able to execute and evade oncoming opponents and throw with ease. That is one of the things Daniel Jones is not able to do, navigate the pocket and evade the tackle. It’s no knock on him, the O-line simply isn’t good enough. However, and I am sure anyone will agree with this, Wilson is a superior quarterback, and in the NFL the games go down to who has the best quarterback (and we’ve seen kickers become very important).

It’s simple; if the Giants want to get back to winning, they need to trade for Wilson. Next up is my second favorite team; the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now I will admit that ever since Clay (the site owner) asked me to cover the Bucs I have grown a soft spot for the team from the Sunshine State. One thing that soft spot feels is pain, because it knows that the Bucs will not be as successful as they were with Tom Brady. Unless they go out and find the right quarterback.

The Buccaneers have a slew of options at their disposal, but because I like them so much, I would preach for them to think long-term instead of committing to a short-term fix. The 2022 quarterback free agency isn’t looking too good, so they will probably have to trade for somebody who fits their scheme. In mind, I have Derek Carr and Jimmy Garopollo. Both quarterbacks have strong arms and quick releases, utilizing their wide-receivers perfectly. With the amount of offensive talent on the Buccaneers, it would be a shame not to get them a quarterback who can effectively get them the ball.

Jimmy G is on the way out of San Francisco

Both Jimmy G and Carr have one year left on their contract, so they would need to be traded for and then signed to an extension. If you’re not willing to draft a QB in the first round, then this may be the Buc’s best option heading forward. Lastly, we have the possibility of a quarterback carousel that will occur this offseason. Quarterbacks such as Teddy Bridgewater, Carson Wentz, Jameis Winston, Tua Tagovailoa, Jared Goff, and Sam Darnold have all been rumored to move on from their respective teams. Where could they end up?
