The reigning, defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Houston Texans Saturday night and what did we learn from it. Hmmmmm. That it was still a preseason game. The majority of the game centered around seeing what draft picks and free agents pickup could do. The 1st unit offense was on the field for two series. After sputtering on the 1st drive. Tom Brady and the offense hummed. Brady went 7-7 and hid Godwin for a TD. He left the game 11-14. The running game looked good. The unit as a whole looked good. The Tampa Bay defense looked good even though many of the starters did not play. All in all the Bucs looked ready for their September 9th clash against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys had a mudhole stomped in them by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The final score was 34-14. They went 0-4 during the preseason. Is that cause for alarm in Dallas. Who knows? Its preseason. The majority of their offensive starters, including Elliot and Prescott, did not play. On defense, it was had to decipher who was a starter and who wasn’t. But they couldn’t stop Jacksonville at all. This does not bode well for the Cowboys. But, as Buc fans, let’s hope that continues.
The Saints named former Buccaneer quarterback, Jameis Winston, as their starter. The Bucs vs. Saints rivalry was already revved to a fever pitch. Picking Jameis as their starter thew gasoline on the fire. Many Buc fans are torn over the former number 1 pick. They still felt he was salvageable. I am not sure why. He was a turnover machine in Tampa Bay. Now there is fear in their hearts that they might be right. I don’t think so. But I’ve been wrong many times in life. So we shall who is right or wrong come October 31st when the two teams meet.
That is the Monday morning wrap
