Saints fan here. The NFL boasts a ton of incredibly exciting offenses that seem to improve every season. In light of the 2021 NFL regular season starting this weekend, we are going to dive a little deeper to find out which team has the best offense in the league. I am an avid, rabid Saints fan. But it looks like a rebuilding year with Jameis Winston. So I don’t see New Orleans as in the running.
Starting off with the most obvious choice here, the Kansas City Chiefs. They have a generational quarterback with Patrick Mahomes running the show. It also helps that he is being coached by two stellar offensive minds in Andy Reid and Eric Bienemy. The organization was able to grab a couple of upgrades on the offensive line to further protect their franchise quarterback and give him more time to find Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce deep down the field. Their run game was truly the only “weak” part of this offense and even that got an upgrade in the last couple of years. Clyde Edwards Helaire flashed a lot of potential in his rookie season and could become even better behind that improved offensive line I just mentioned. This is one offense that I can’t see being slowed down this year.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers should obviously be on this list as well. They are the reigning champions after all and are led by the seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. Brady not only brings a veteran leadership and winning mentality to this young Buccaneers group, but he also brings insane football IQ. They have two very good coordinators in Byron Leftwich and Todd Bowles. Tampa Bay kept all 22 starters from the 2020 season which means that Brady gets to throw passes to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Scottie Miller for the second straight year. They also ended up having one of the best offensive lines in the league despite some concerns regarding the position ahead of the year. Oh yeah, and they have a two headed monster at running back with Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette sharing carries.
The Cleveland Browns aren’t talked about enough when it comes to strong offense. First off, they have the best offensive line in the league on paper. That not only gives their young quarterback Baker Mayfield time to go over his options, it also allows their duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to wreak havoc on opposing defenses. Then, when defenses decide to hone in on the run, Mayfield has Jarvis Landry, Austin Hooper and now Odell Beckham Jr. to throw the football to. If Mayfield takes another step forward in his development and gets some chemistry with Beckham, we could see them become the best offense in the league.
Finally, we have the Tennessee Titans. The Buffalo Bills were going to take the final spot, but I ended up riding with the Titans here due to potential. This is an offense that is led by Ryan Tannehill, a quarterback that pretty much reinvented himself in the past couple of years. He also works with a 2,000-yard running back in Derrick Henry, one of the most difficult players to tackle in league history. The passing game was a little bleak, but A.J. Brown was a big bright spot last year. The franchise decided to take it one step further and trade for Julio Jones to pair up with Brown. I truly don’t see how anybody will be able to slow down this unit. The second that any team tries to step up and lock down Henry in the run game, it will leave their cornerbacks one on one with Jones and Brown. Two insanely physical wideouts with great hands. Oh, and their offense line is pretty good, though it could use some work.
To wrap this all up, I would have to go with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have Tom Brady as the QB. Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Scotty Miller for WRs They have Leonard Fornette, Ronald Jones, and Giovanni Bernard for RBs. They have Rob Gronkowski, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate for TEs. They have the best front line since the 1990 Dallas Cowboys. There is power, speed, and talent at every position. No other team in the NFL is stacked like this and that is just their offense. The Buccaneers are going to be hard to beat this season.
