Who Should the Bucs Trade? (Or Trade for)

Variety is the spice of life. I know that every Wednesday I bring you a memorable Buccaneers trade, but hey, sometimes you need to break away from the routine and switch things up. Lately, I’ve been seeing trade rumors going around surrounding the Buccaneers. Whether it be talk of Ronald Jones II potentially being sent out for a defensive piece, or us acquiring a cornerback using some of our picks, the rumors just keep getting juicier by the minute.

It’s no secret that the Bucs need massive help at the cornerback position due to the injuries they have incurred this season. With that in mind, we will look at three possible cornerbacks we can realistically trade for, as well as some possible destinations for our second-string running back Ronald Jones II. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

Xavien Howard

A personal motto of mine is “Go Big or Go Home”. If the Bucs are going to trade for a CB, they might as well go all out and acquire one of the best. “But how can a player as good as Howard be available?”, you may be asking. Well, let’s be honest, the Miami Dolphins are a dumpster fire. They currently sport a 1-5 record and have repeatedly been trounced by teams this season. If a rebuild is in progress, then the Bucs should look to pounce while the goods are being liquidated.

Joe Haden

Compared to his previous years in the league, Haden is experiencing somewhat of a down season this year. Still, the Steelers overall have been having a pretty sub-par season, so you can understand why Haden would be experiencing a case of lower numbers. He’s still one of the best in the league, so why not at least try to scoop him up in a trade and make another run at a Super Bowl.

Kyle Fuller

There’s a line from one of my favorite movies, Scarface, that goes “nothing exceeds like excess”. WHen it comes to cornerbacks, the Broncos live by this creed. Fuller is a proven cornerback in the league and normally doesn’t find himself in the middle of trade rumors. However, he does play for the Denver Broncos who have an excess of CB’s in their rotation. War is won with strategy, and the best strategy for the Bucs would be to steal a proven CB from the Broncos.

Trade Destinations for Jones II

If you do beat ’em, join ’em? I’m not entirely sure that’s how the saying goes but this could be the case for Ronald Jones II and him joining the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have a need for a string running back after their main pieces have gone down with an injury. Jones II could potentially step in instantly and make a severe impact on their hopes of returning to the Super Bowl.

Jones II could find himself with a new team this season

Once their main star Clyde Edwards-Hilaire gets his health back, Jones II can step in as a complementary second running back for the team. Another team that would welcome Jones II would be the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have just two running backs on their roster.
