The Chicago Bears are next on the list of unfinished business for your reigning, defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last season ex-Eagle QB St. Nick Foules pulled magic out of his hat and defeated the Bucs 20-19. It was the Buc’s 5th game of the season and they hadn’t jelled on offense yet. Chicago at the time was looking pretty good. The win gave them a 4-1 record and a swelled head. There was talk dethroning the Green Bay Packers as the kings of the NFC midwest. Even a Super Bowl berth. That nonsense died quickly. Da Bears would win again the following week. Then lose the next six games in a row. Ending up with an 8-8 record. The Bucs on the other hand would go on to the Super Bowl and lay a licking on the Kansas City chiefs. Still, the loss to Chicago stings. This was the game that Tom Brady seemingly forgot what down it was. On Sunday at 4:25 pm the Bucs will look for retribution.
Chicago is coming in with a rookie QB in Justin Fields. A rookie QB means no playoffs. It also means the Bears don’t have a prayer. Fields got lit up vs the Green Bay Packers last week for 4 sacks. But it could have been more. He was harassed and hurried all game. He was only credited with one interception. But there should have been 2 more. If Green Bay had any motivation the game wouldn’t have been close.
I don’t know of any rookie QB that has started a season and led their team to the playoff. Maybe I’m wrong. But I do know the odds are so bad that it is like playing PowerBall. Given those terrible percentages. Why do teams still ruin a potentially good QB by starting them in their rookie season? As Brady said after his free agency. These GMs and coaches aren’t as smart as they pretend to be. They sacrifice their team’s future for their immediate now. Turns out that all three come up losers with that decision. So expect much of the same for Justin Fields. He will experience hard sacks and continuous harassment. Even with a depleted secondary expect some easy interceptions.
By winning this game the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a chance to do something they have NEVER done before. That is to go 6-1 in their first 7 games. Not many teams can say that they have. It is not an easy feat. But it looks like it is going to be done by TB12 and the boys. The Bucs are going Bear hunting boys and girls… and do you know what? That spells Bad News for the Bears
