Lamar Jackson Lashes Out On Twitter

Lamar Jackson has gotten himself into a bit of trouble following the Baltimore Ravens’ recent heartbreaking loss. They were locked into a heated battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars. A game that Baltimore couldn’t really break open at any point. Eventually, they held onto a seven-point lead with just a little bit of time left on the clock. That was when the youngster Trevor Lawrence unleashed a beautiful drive down the field to score the game tying touchdown. To make matters worse, the Jaguars attempted and converted a two-point conversion to ice the game and win it for Jacksonville. Baltimore had an opportunity for a 67-yard field goal to win, but Justin Tucker came up about a yard or two short.

When the game was over, Jackson took to Twitter to let out a little bit of his frustration. Somebody posted, “someone asking for over $250 million guaranteed like [Jackson], games like this should not come down to [the kicker Justin Tucker]. Let Lamar walk and spend that money on a well-rounded team.” Obviously, with Jackson hoping to sign that massive contract extension and being unable to get the money he desires, emotions were a little higher than usual. Especially when you toss in that saddening loss.

Jackson responded to the fan with demeaning and vulgar language, later deleting the response that he posted due to getting in trouble with his organization. I will say that taking frustrations out on random people on the internet isn’t the best look for a guy that’s hoping to make that much money in the foreseeable future. Then again, that’s a conversation for another day right now.

Harbough Responds To Lamar Jackson Tweet

Head coach John Harbaugh told the media that he had to take Lamar aside and discuss the tweet with him. Urging him and other players dealing with frustration to stay off of social media after each game, win or lose. His full quote was, “I just talk to these guys, we talk a lot about football, but we also talk a little about that stuff, too. What goes on in terms of media and everything. Really just beg guys not to get into the Twitter world right after the game, especially after a loss. It’s never going to be positive; it’s not going to be a nice place.”

On top of that, Lamar took aim at a beat reporter that covers the Baltimore Ravens. That guy wrote an entire article about the tweet that was since deleted by Jackson. Jackson wrote, “This is defamation of my character because not once have I ever mentioned or disrespect anyone’s sexuality, sexual orientation, gender, religion or race. Your reaching.”

The defeat broke apart a four-game winning streak and saw the team go just 2-for-5 in the red zone. They had to kick field goals in each of their first three trips into the Jacksonville 20-yard line. Jackson himself completed 16 out of his 32 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown on top of 89 yards on the ground.
